This page is a draft, waiting for legal review. It says what Upway does today.
If you ask without an account
Upway gives your browser a random anonymous session so it can count your free questions and keep your conversation together. The session is not your name and not your email. Your questions and the answers are kept with it, so the conversation can carry on and so a free account can pick it up when you make one.
Counting visits
Where the law asks us to, in the UK, in the EU and anywhere we cannot tell, Upway asks before it counts visits. If you say no, nothing that counts your visits is saved on your device. We only remember your answer. You can change it any time with the Analytics switch at the foot of every page.
Elsewhere, Upway counts visits without asking. It uses them to see what helps and what does not.
If you make an account
You can sign in with Google. Where it is switched on, you can use an email link instead. Upway keeps your email address, and your name if your sign in provides it, along with the trips, bookings and points you add.
Upway sends you news and offers only if you tick the box that asks, and each message has a one click way to stop.
If you connect your inbox
Connecting Gmail is your choice and it is separate from signing in. Upway asks for read only access. It looks only for booking confirmations from airlines, hotels and card programs, and it never sends, deletes or changes mail. It does not read personal mail.
You can disconnect any time on My Stack. If you would rather not connect, forward a confirmation to your own Upway address, or drop the PDF.
If you book
To sell you a cash fare, Upway passes your name and contact details to the airline so the ticket can be issued, and sends your confirmation to the email you give. Your card number goes straight to the company that takes the payment and never passes through the Upway website.
What is not settled yet
How long conversations and accounts are kept, who answers a request to see or delete your data, and the postal address for those requests are still being decided with our lawyers. Until this page says otherwise, write to help@upway.travel and we will deal with your request by hand.
